The Geospatial Training Program (GTP) is part of UConn's award winning Center for Land Use Education and Research. GTP was developed in order to provide innovative hands-on training in geospatial technologies to town officials, town staff, non-government officials and governmental agency staff and others. Since 2007, the program has trained over 3,000 individuals in geographic information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), and new, rapidly evolving technologies designed to make maps and geospatial data available on mobile devices and over the internet.

CLEAR provides information, education and assistance to land use decision makers, in support of balancing growth and natural resource protection. To achieve this goal, CLEAR conducts remote sensing research, develops landscape analysis tools and training, and conducts outreach education programs. CLEAR is a partnership between UConn's Department of Natural Resources and the Environment and the Department of Extension, two units of the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources (CAHNR), and the Connecticut Sea Grant Program.
